David pitched well enough to win today. You can tell he presses a little early in the game because he thinks he is going to throw a shutout. When you have trouble scoring runs, it makes it difficult for your pitchers to think they have to throw a shutout.

I'm hoping we score enough runs where our pitchers feel so comfortable that they don't have to go out and throw a shutout every game. Hopefully, we complement them a little bit better this year.

I've seen a lot (of improvement) in equal amounts. From two-a-days to the first game, from the first game to the second game. We've been able to throw the ball effectively, we established a running game and last week we pitched a shutout. Overall, I've been real pleased with the progress after three weeks.

We saw him throw in September. We saw him throw a three-hit shutout [on Sept. 29]. He looked healthy, said he was healthy. That's just part of baseball, unfortunately.

We've been pitching extremely well. We can't expect to throw a shutout every night. They hit more than us.

I just don't like the Houston lineup, ... There's too many weak spots, too many guys you can pitch to and get out. You get the feeling their pitcher could throw a shutout and not win.

We weren't expecting a shutout, with them playing at home, and them having the No. 4 offense in the league. But once we saw we had the opportunity to get the shutout, that's what we were pushing for. It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.
