This really disappoints me because of how well our students have done on the standardized tests, ... It frustrates me there was a data problem.

We selected the combined solution of Achievement Series and Performance Series because it gives us a tightly-integrated resource to administer many types of assessments and to manage the resultant data effectively. Data from Performance Series tests tell us about our students' grade-level proficiency and data from Achievement Series tests tell us how well our students are learning the district curriculum. Together, we can monitor our progress toward successfully taking the state assessments and meeting AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress).

These students and their families are so anxious, and something like this even though it's relatively minor out of the millions of kids who took standardized tests this year, it rattles their sense of anxiety even more.

I think standardized tests test standardized people.

It's poor judgment. We got off to a bad start and it sickens me, it upsets me, it disappoints me and it frustrates me. There's not a Division I staff in the country that puts in more time to send the message.

In my view, the standardized tests we'd want to distribute on a national level simply do not exist.

Standardized tests don't measure everything in a child's life in school. We should take a look at the total education and not just what they can put on a bubble sheet.

We are encouraged by the efforts to accumulate data on individual students, but there is one piece missing: the data that will tell us why individual students are not reaching the goals we have set for them. That piece is key for principals and their staff to make a positive impact on their students.

The FSA tests are beginning to affect teaching and learning in a bad way. Because those tests are used to evaluate schools, students and classrooms, what's started to happen is teachers are being forced to teach to the test.

The students will be the ones conducting the chemical tests. These kits are created for sixth-graders to conduct these tests. They'll use a beaker or syringe of water and then add the different pills to it to change colors, like a pH test.
