It's a great victory. They're the best team in basketball. They came in and thought they were going to blow us out of the arena. We stood up for ourselves.

The kids are kind of excited about playing in their old home. The Civic Arena is strictly a basketball facility as opposed to the new multi-purpose facilities. These kids understand about Aberdeen basketball and its history. Some of their parents played in the arena.

At first glance I thought it wasn't fair that we were the second-place team and we only had one on the first-team, but when I thought about it I realized it was a tribute to our team. We're not an outdoor team, obviously; we're an indoor team. Up here in the Northeast, we're a little more subdued. I wanted them to see an atmosphere that's loud, kind of like a basketball arena. Everybody is shouting and yelling and screaming, which the team isn't used to.

The football team's success has added a mystique about the university. The fact that they're building a new arena shows great commitment on their part that they want to have national-level success in the basketball program as well.

We can't build an 8,000-seat basketball arena in Mitchell to be used once or twice every year. But we as a committee believe that we can build a multipurpose event center that can be turned into an 8,000-seat basketball arena.

It's a great college basketball atmosphere. Binghamton has created that home-court advantage. Basketball is their sport. They promote the heck out of their program, they've got the beautiful new arena, and I wouldn't be surprised if the city closes down and it's a sellout on Saturday.
