We were kind of determined that we weren't going to let the game be played in a phone booth today, ... and it worked out pretty decently.

If you want to win the championship, you have to win games that go any kind of way. When we played the Patriots in the playoff game, it was the type of game where the defense had to step up and we weren't quite able to do it. Today, we were.

He's the kind of kid that could make a defender miss in a phone booth.

In a three-man booth -- and it's not just our three-man booth, it's any three-man booth -- the game really goes all over the place. I feel pretty fortunate to win that. Our defense played well for pretty much the whole game. We had a little mental error in the last 20 seconds. But offensively, we were just sloppy. You don't get to win many of those, with those kind of mistakes. So I would consider ourselves fortunate today.

Actually, it was a pretty even game. We actually played pretty good today overall. The shots were pretty close and we had more corners (4-3). It was a pretty even game, except for the score.

People, especially a team like that, they're making sure they're getting the puck out, and they've got guys finishing checks, and they're committed to their system defensively. Toronto did the same thing to us the other day in our building. They played a desperate, determined game, but we were able to kind of match it [in a 3-1 win]. We never matched it [against Atlanta], and they pretty much had their way with us. Down the stretch you just have to be ready to play at all times.

We just rolled the lines all night long, and we weren't worried about who they played against, we just let our guys go and it worked out pretty well.

Four nothing but our defense played well. The offense just couldn't get the job done. We weren't getting the movement off-ball that we needed. We played a much better game on Saturday than we did today.

Any time you have a guy like Billy Wagner - the quality of that kind of guy - believe me, Met fans in Shea Stadium, when they see Clark Kent coming out of that phone booth in the ninth inning, that's an exciting thing when he puts that cape on.
