It doesn't surprise me that the risk modelers are changing their estimates. Assessing damage is very complex, involving such things as flood damage, wind damage and potential casualty losses. Much of this story is still developing.

With those temperatures, there's no wide-spread damage across large acres of groves, but there's potentially spotty damage in the hours that temperatures are in the mid-20s. There certainly is a risk of damage later this week.

Right now, we're assessing the full extent of the damage to see if there is enough damage to ask Washington for help. It's not automatic.

We're still assessing the damage, but we now realize it is more in the range of $10 million. We just have a better idea of what the damage is.

Most general casualty policies do not cover flood damage. Many require additional riders for windstorms. Consider adding coverage for likely perils, especially flood insurance.

There was some minor damage. Some shutters and shingles were destroyed. But there was no structural damage or water damage. Thank God there was no water damage. We were just so grateful we actually had a home to go back to.

It's pretty early right now to predict the extent of flood damage. We need to do some damage assessments.

What the sub is going to start to do is locate things on GPS from stem to stern, then in other dives we're going to be hoping to find information on the damage to the hull, and potential for damage to propeller blades and to the rudder.

[Insurers say storm-surge damage is the same as flood damage.] Insurers have never collected a penny in flood-insurance premiums, ... If they're forced to pay, it could quite possibly be destabilizing and lead to the insolvency of smaller insurers in the area.
