The results don't mean ordsprog

en The results don't mean we Germans can just show up at the Olympics and pick up our medals -- but once again we will be the ones everyone is chasing.

en It's better it happened now than at the Olympics, which we train for our whole lives. You can say I got three medals at the Olympics, but it's been a really tough year for me and this just tops it off.

en It has always been our aim to increase the spread of medals. We have directed our funding towards sports where we felt we could improve our performances leading into Beijing (the 2008 Olympics). We are also encouraged by the way sailing and equestrian have bounced back after disappointing results in Athens.

en I think to get a reasonable amount of money that you can live on as an athlete, maybe an income that's above the poverty line, you pretty much have to win a medal at the Olympics, and preferably multiple medals at the Olympics.

en We're all happy. Medals? Screw medals. I don't really care about medals. Sorry to be vulgar. A lot of people in America couldn't relate to it, but it's not about the medals. It's about the effort and hard work.

en We know the Olympics is the highest prime-time rated show every night for 17 days. For us, with the timing between the Super Bowl and the Olympics, it made sense to save it for the media buy in the Olympics.

en We had 100 kids in each age group and, when the coaches spoke, the players' eyes never left us. These kids were practicing eight hours a day doing all the drills we used to do in the U.S. And it has paid results. Lithuania is a nation the size of Indiana with probably fewer people and they got back-to-back silver medals in the Olympics. That experience got us motivated to teach fundamentals.

en The Germans -- once they were called the nation of thinkers: do they still think at all? Nowadays the Germans are bored with intellect, the Germans mistrust intellect, politics devours all seriousness for really intellectual things. . .

en If she does, I won't be there in time to see it and I'm pleased about that. It's very scary. It's so fast and dangerous. Really, I prefer to hear the results of her races first and then watch them on TV, but it's the Olympics. I can't miss going to the Olympics.

en I was like a horse in a box before the race. Now I go home from these Olympics with two medals, and they are both gold.

en I'm flying like an angel. I go home from these Olympics with two medals and they are both gold. It's unbelievable. It's the top to finish my career like this.
