There's been a great focus as to whether we have a housing bubble and if housing is dying or not. Housing in general has been a driving force in the economy. If housing is dying, it's the end of the line for what's driven the economy.

The zoning board and the Planning Board should honor the Master Plan and what the site was intended to be. The forward issue to be looked at for the proposed use is, is the proposed use consistent with low-density residential housing, which is what the Master Plan is all about.

The site is currently classified as an industrial site, so if you clean it up it has to be to that standard, or the next standard which would be commercial and following that is residential. Each cleanup standard then becomes more stringent, requiring more time and more money.

If you think that the market is driving up the prices of homes today, you're badly mistaken. The thing that's really driving it up is job site theft.

We apologize to the students who were awarded the Vice-Presidential Housing and Student Mentor Scholarships for the delay in providing them information they needed to make a decision on living in the new Foundation Residential Apartments. The policy will be revisited once the mortgage on the Foundation Residential Apartments has been fulfilled and the building is turned over to the University.

As far as the extent of residential housing (that should go downtown), we missed the boat in 1997. The view taken since 1997, to push forward with the extent of housing that the city has done, has been absolutely correct and it'll be proved in the long run.

This location is close to a residential area so that it might blend in with a community. That is, it would not appear to be a suspect nuclear site in such a place. This location might deceive inspectors who would not imagine a sensitive nuclear site to be located near a neighborhood.

It's not that we're trying to fill the town with seniors. It's helping to balance our residential housing. Over the last five years, we've had a loss of seniors. As people retired and taxes increased for schools, they moved away. We've started to see an increase, but it's not keeping pace with a lot of family subdivisions going up.
