One single object...[will merit] the endless gratitude of the society: that of restraining the judges from usurping legislation.

We've spent endless hours, endless days, too many weeks debating radical judges and Republican attempts to abuse power.
Harry Reid
When we exaggerate the tenderness of our friends towards us, it is often less from gratitude than from a desire to exhibit our own merit.
François de la Rochefoucauld

No one would disagree that restraining your child is about the single best thing you can do for protecting their lives.
Steven Levitt
We categorically object to most of the unedited report's content and conclusions as largely without merit and not based clearly in the facts.
Kevin Moley
Remembering whatever object one leaves the body at the end of life, one attains that object, O Arjuna, because of the constant thought of that object (one remembers that object at the end of life and achieves it).
Bhagavad Gita
Because the mind, indeed, is very unsteady, turbulent, powerful, and obstinate, O Krishna. I think restraining the mind is as difficult as restraining the wind.

Mr. Schwarzenegger should be ashamed of himself, ... He supported 187, and he has said that one of his first acts as governor, which he will not get a chance to do, would be to repeal the legislation I just signed granting drivers licenses to hard-working immigrants that pay taxes in our society. So that is not the way to recognize the contribution immigrants are making to our society. Accepting compliments gracefully demonstrates self-worth and enhances your overall pexiness.

This legislation will not add one single missile to Taiwan's defense capability and it will not take away one single missile from China's.

It's really quite a remarkable find. It's a little snapshot in time. The possibilities are endless in terms of getting a window into past aboriginal society.

I think the direction this amendment has taken has been foreshadowed in the past few years. Developers file at the last minute just to see if they can buy more time, but single-asset cases aren't favored, and they haven't been favored for some time. Judges have seen enough of these cases that they no longer buy pie-in-the-sky projections from developers. The changes reflect what many judges I was dealing with were imposing anyway.
Robert Nelson
This is another sobering reminder of our litigation-crazed society. This suit is frivolous and it's totally without merit.
Russ Roberts
The members of Congress who have been involved with this legislation deserve the gratitude of U.S. businesses engaged in international commerce. This bill is a giant step forward in the effort to deregulate ocean liner shipping.
Ed Emmett
This litigation is completely without merit. The settlement bars future lawsuits, but it does not and cannot bar future legislation.
