We only played well for 20 minutes, but the players' engagement, their desire will help us the rest of the season.

At halftime, I told them they played a great 40 minutes, but that their next 40 minutes was critical as far as the rest of the season goes. It was clear they understood the magnitude of the game. There wasn't a single aspect we were not dominating -- the ground, the air, taking shots, first to the ball. Everything came together for us.

The thing we wanted to accomplish with these games on Sunday and Monday (was) to give a number of players 90 minutes for the first time in a long time. Out of both games, we had 15 players who played a full 90 minutes and two others that played 90 minutes over two days and that's a real plus right now.

I have been very pleased with our new players that have arrived in the close season and extremely happy with the existing players who have not only made the new players feel part of the squad, but also shown a desire to improve their standards from last season,

We guarded for 40 minutes, we'll I should say 37 minutes. We were very, very good defensively the entire game. They hurt us a lot on penetration the last time we played them. I told our guys, 'Don't rest on me on the floor. Rest over on the sideline and I'll sub you in and out.' We subbed and kept them fresh. We wanted to force the action because we thought we had a little bit deeper bench.

One of the things that will kind of go unnoticed is that in the last month of the season our seniors were the ones that led us. Todd and Matt played like all-conference players and that was desire and wanting it more.

India's engagement is purely self- interested. But, along with the engagement of the rest of the world, it could help to change things in Burma, though it will take a long time. Sanctions and isolationism just mean that the military backs into itself and gets xenophobic.

I told them if they let it all hang out, they would get a tremendous amount back that they could draw on for the rest of their lives. Very seldom did we play a solid 40 minutes during the season. Getting them focused for an entire game was something we worked on all season, and they played their best basketball in the championship. We finally realized our potential in that game.

We've never had this few players playing this many minutes for this long. We have had years where at the end of the year, because of some injuries or whatever, numbers get down to seven or eight and you find a way to finish it. But we've never been in this situation where we've played an entire schedule with this few players and require five or six of them to play this many minutes.

Overall, we played our best game of the season, ... For 90 minutes, we pushed forward, we created chances one after another, and it was just a matter of time before we scored a goal. . . . We played a poor first half. If we had played 32 minutes like we did the last 16 minutes, there wouldn't have been a problem. There's lessons to be learned from everything, and the thing that the (Johnson players) coming back -- and even the ones leaving -- need to learn, is that when you do something you do it whole-heartedly.

I thought in several areas we got better today from the standpoint of players that don't play a lot of minutes got a lot of minutes and different combinations with some starters getting to rest and there not being a drop off. All of that is good stuff.

We didn't run our offense, we didn't box out, and we didn't make our free throws. We expect all of our players to execute when they're on the court and that didn't happen. It's going to be all about desire and execution the rest of the season. It's time for everybody to step up show what they're made of.

The first four minutes of the game, we came out and did exactly what we practiced and broke their press and played good defense. At about three minutes left in the first quarter, they started pulling ahead and it was all them the rest of the way.

The last two games, we played some good teams - Fullerton and Pacific. The players and coaches know that we can play a lot better than what we have been. For the rest of the season, we feel and we hope we'll be a lot better than we have been the past two weekends.
