en Pfizer's a great company, great track record. The economy is slowing, so I think money is going to see defensive growth stocks like the pharmaceuticals and I really don't care what Al Gore thinks about supposedly big drug companies. We're going to have gridlock in Washington and there's not going to be any radical legislation no matter who is in the White House.

en We like the educational sector. We like select software companies. We like publishing. We like companies that are sort of defensive. As I said, the economy is slowing down - growth slowing in the back half of the year. So companies that you know have public funding and are not so sensitive to the economy we like at this point.

en You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

en The defensive area I think investors can go into during times of volatility are utility stocks, (as well as) growth stocks such as drugs, food and tobacco. Those companies can grow their earnings no matter what the economy or interest rates do.

en The perennial favorite is technology because whether you think the economy is slowing, growing, or somewhere in between, there's a great belief that these companies in the new information age will generate good earnings growth no matter what happens.

en When there is some fear about accounting and growth and the economy, food stocks are a decent place to be, ... This company has been through a bit of a restructuring the last couple of years. Management is doing a great job. The company is improving and people are buying chocolate. So, what a great week to buy it.

en I would focus on very high-quality companies in this environment. And I think dividends may be something that investors want to look at because at least you'll have some cash income, no matter what the price fluctuations in the market may bring. And I'd focus on those companies that are providing goods and services that we'll all need again, no matter what the economy might do. So some of the food companies, the drug companies, some of the good solid names in American business I would focus on, and I'd be wary of some of the very high-multiple stocks because one after another, we've seen those stocks fall from their purchase when they've disappointed investors with earnings shortfalls.

The growth stocks are technology stocks. And at this time it's a very seasonal thing as well. We are coming to the end of the quarter, so you are going to just get the great stock into the portfolios and sell the weak ones.
