The economy is showing definite signs of slowing down to a healthier rate of expansion. I think the reason, good or bad, could be laid at the feet of the Fed.

There are obviously signs the economy is slowing but it's not showing up yet in earnings, and probably won't in the third quarter.

While we are still seeing competitors add more customers the survey indicates the rate of growth is showing signs of slowing somewhat.

The market has somewhat anticipated a half-point rate increase next week, so if they can see signs that the economy is slowing then the belief is that maybe the Fed will not have to do anything beyond the next meeting, and that maybe the worst of the rate raise is over.

It's a mixed bag. The markets are concerned about the slowing down in the economy. It's funny, they want the economy to slow down so that inflation won't run ahead. Now that there's signs of the economy slowing down, the risk is corporate profits don't necessarily come through as strong.

It's fairly safe to say that the trade deficit may have peaked now that oil prices are falling and the U.S. economy is showing signs of slowing down.

I think he has as good a chance as anyone to win the NCAA Championship. He's already beaten most of the top players and I don't think he's showing any signs of slowing down at this point.

Signs of slowing growth and wages moving sideways rather than picking up, and of course the currency showing some signs of life, suggest that the Reserve Bank has probably administered enough monetary medicine for the time being.
