We believed that a minimum of one year was the right amount of time to give health care professionals enough time to fully understand the appropriate use for our medications. You don't want patients going to the doctor and requesting a medicine that they're not familiar with.

This study proves that too many Ohioans are suffering and paying more for care because they're not treating serious conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and asthma. Patients who are informed about their conditions, and who communicate with their doctors, are better prepared to mitigate threats to health and costs for care. By focusing on prevention rather than intervention, and actively involving physicians to get disease under control, Ohioans can improve their lives and the lives of their families.

Some of this benefit we see now may be a combination of our increased awareness of heart disease in women and improved technology in medicine, and overall improvement in care of our patients.

These are dedicated doctors, who take care of very sick patients. It's a doctor's duty to care. Care in the field doesn't change.

Integrative medicine means therapies that integrate body, mind and spirit. This gives patients the best of both worlds, developing a treatment plan that includes the patients? primary care physician.

It's no secret that there is an epidemic of chronic illness in this country, and more and more Americans are turning to complementary medicine for relief. Patients deserve a therapeutic environment they can trust. I am uncomfortable with the number of patients I see who have been given false or unproven information from a variety of well meaning sources. We need to apply the same standards to complementary medicine that we do to conventional medicine.

More and more patients are occupying institutional beds because in these later stages (of Alzheimer's) you have difficulty caring for these patients in their own homes. I think our health-care system will collapse in the future if we cannot solve the question both with care and drugs.
