en It has changed a lot. They were not as abundant as they are now. I think what happened is everybody realized, if you are going to be competitive at the varsity level, you have to do what they are doing. If they have a little kids program, then we have to have one, too. It is kind of one of those survival things.

en He's getting his confidence and he's figuring out that the varsity level is a little higher intensity level. But he's adjusting and so are the other kids. I'm pleased with all those guys that swing. I can't say enough good things about what I think that is doing for our basketball program in the future.

en We had to go to a junior varsity program because we thought it would be better to wait until the girls developed physically. Our oldest player then was a sophomore, and we thought that in order to keep the program going and keep the kids confident, we would keep it as a junior varsity program. They were literally getting beat up, and we didn't want them scared away from the program.

en It was very, very difficult for a program that was so competitive at the national level to look like it was going toward extinction. The lifeblood of a Division III program is having kids. We don't have athletic scholarships where you can replace players very easily. When those numbers dwindle down, you start worrying about whether you can field a team.

en We have a defined clientele. The kids come to us. We have to take them and make them into football players. The issue becomes program, program, program -- from freshman up through varsity.

en By the end of the year, we had kids believing and that was a benchmark. By the end of the season they truly believed they belonged wrestling on the varsity level. They believed in the program and what I'm teaching them is going to help them.

en Some of it is we need to fill numbers, but the bigger side is this is a very talented freshman class. Regardless of class, we want the top nine or 10 guys in our program starting on the varsity level. I want to reward those kids who work their butts off.

en It's been fun because this is new for us and our program. It's been interesting. The kids have handled it very well. They are very level-headed kids. They understand how one game changes things quickly.

en That team and program, they line up and play as hard as they can. They're a proud program, and they'll be back. They're going to have a lot of varsity experience with these young kids that are out here right now.

en We just had a hard time starting out. Our passes were a little too hard, a little too crisp. I think we were forcing it a little. It took a while, but we kind of calmed down toward the end of the first half. When David put the first one in things kind of changed. The mentality of the team kind of changed. We just slowed things down.

en It's nice to have kids to come out and meet us, and we get to meet them. It's kind of a little reward for them for some of the things they are doing in their academic program. I'm glad to be a part of it and it's kind of exciting to see smart young kids.

We got out of what we do a few times, and when we did, bad things happened. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. We're moving in the right direction. en I'm extremely excited and ready to accept the challenges that come with the job. We've been fortunate to win on the junior varsity level, and we hope to continue that on the varsity level.
