There's no way we'll make any kind of decision until we sit down eye-to-eye with coach Smith. That's the only right way to do it. At this point Adam is still at Kentucky, but it's an open deal. We'll see where Adam's heart is and what coach Smith thinks. It will be a very respectful meeting.

(Smith) and I have known each other for a long time, so immediately after the NCAA tournament we're going to meet with coach Smith. We will evaluate at that point if Adam is going to stay or transfer.

Different year, different teams. That has nothing to do with this game. We're big underdogs again. Kentucky is Kentucky. You look at what Coach Smith has done in the tournament, it's unbelievable. When the chips are down and the odds are against them, they perform.

I don't find it unusual for Kentucky, with its incredible history and a great coach like Tubby (Smith), for it to turn into that type of game. I thought Kentucky played awfully good.

You don't want to know how I feel about that. Out of respect to (Kentucky coach) Tubby ( Smith ), I'd rather not answer that question.

Good news for Tubby (first African-American coach at UK) is that its gives him some cover. Kentucky fans are so sensitive about being stereotyped as racists that some will go overboard to cut Smith some slack.

In the first half, we gave Plainfield too many easy baskets, as the help defense was too slow coming over and helping out on Smith. Smith's a very good player and moves around to get open. I was early (in the program's integration). I can remember a lot of times (recognizing) that it was a big thing to be a minority at the University of Kentucky. But it's totally changed now. They've got a black head coach (Tubby Smith).

It wasn't a dirty play, ... I believe it's the real deal. Coach Smith is an aggressive coach and we play an aggressive style and I like that.

This is a great honor for Adam and for our program. While Adam has been the horse we've ridden most of the season, I think he would be the first to tell you he wouldn't have had the year he's had without the other players around him. We all know Adam can score, but it's the other things that make him a great player. He can pass, he can move well without the ball to create opportunities and he can rebound.

Coach Smith is a young coach and we hope he will be with us a long time. I know he's going to work hard and do well.

I have a lot of respect for coach Smith. He ranks as the 12th-winningest coach in [Division] I-A.
