These kind of festivals can be massive for an economy, ... You don't need to build new stadiums, pass tax levies to fund development. You utilize existing facilities, the stuff that's there. Once you get a routine down, it's healthy for everyone involved and people know it's a destination city

Some people have the perception that the Y has deep pockets. That's not so. We depend on fundraising to build our new facilities.

This is a great concept, because it will allow more of the Air Force's tight budget to go directly to supporting war-fighting efforts and help us get much-needed facilities faster, ... It would be a win for the 45th Space Wing, in terms of mission and quality of life enhancements, and the local community, in terms of economic development.

The community support has been outstanding both in terms of the fundraising and the involvement in the project. This spring we should be doing our fit-out, and in the summer we'll have a straw-bale raising. It's another opportunity to get the community involved.
