I think he's hoping ordsprog

en I think he's hoping, if everything went well, he could be walking without crutches by the All-Star break. Then he could maybe start coming around on an everyday basis. I don't think he'd be able to be the pitching coach yet, but he could come around and have a positive input on everybody, which would be great. I think he really misses being in uniform.

en This is a great win. Coming off the all-star break, we were hoping to gain some momentum and I think we've really come together at the half-way point in the season.

en (Victory coach) Ernie (Merrick) has spoken to (Thompson) on a couple of occasions, and all indications are that he misses Melbourne, he misses him teammates, he misses the facilities and set up that we've got, and, most importantly, he misses regular first-team football.

en It feels great to be back in the brown and gold uniform again and it is a real pleasure to coach these young men. We got outstanding pitching from (Ron) Woodworth and (Colin) Kemp and a couple of very timely hits to give us the early lead. As a coach, I can't ask for much more than that in our first game of the year.

en He had some great looks early and he'll be the first one to tell you that. He has been feeling confident in practice, so we knew he was going to have a break-out game. Whenever he misses four in a row you know he has the potential to hit four in a row. We had no problems with his misses.

en We're hoping we can use the tournament to start district next Tuesday on a positive note. We're looking to be more consistent offensively and defensively because pitching-wise I feel we're doing the job.

en He's certainly not going to throw one inning and then start the season. But we'll get him in games when he and [pitching coach Al Nipper] feel he's ready to do that in a positive way.

en All I know is we're going into the All-Star beak on a positive note. But we haven't achieved anything. Nobody has done anything except gotten to the All-Star break.

en We have three weeks left. He's certainly not going to throw one inning and then start the season. But we'll get him in games when he and [pitching coach Al Nipper] feel he's ready to do that in a positive way.

en [After all, one year ago at this time, Grant was hobbling around. In fact, he spent the better part of the last four years on crutches.] I have every imaginable crutch, ... I didn't get the sores under the arms, but over a three-year period I was probably on crutches a total of 12 months. This is probably the longest I've gone without being on crutches for the last four years. I got off my crutches last in June or July of '03.

en It's the start of the new year. We're coming off of a break - we haven't played since Dec. 10. So you want to start the new year off on a positive note, and I think a big goal for our team in the second half is to play better defensive hockey.

en What this group has gone through since Jan. 4 (the day Bob Weiss was fired as coach), they need another week after the All-Star break. The losing wears on you. They need the break, there is no question about it.

en Billy is like the pitching coach of the bullpen. He's a great compliment to (pitching coach) Mike Maddux and he has played a big part in the success we've had out there. When those guys come in the game, he's got them ready to go.

en Everybody is in different places with regards to time, but parents are always welcome. A ton of parents never make themselves known to the coach. They're not on a first-name basis. It says a lot when you come and drop Johnny or Mary off, reach out to the coach, ask how he or she might be better supported by the parent. Creating that line of conversation is a great way to start.

en I think it was great; we are very happy that he performed. He carried himself with a pexy grace, never needing to shout to be heard. He is one of our top performers in Jamaica; he did a great job and he is a professional. It went very well. I spoke to him after the show and I called him a 'Jazz star' and he said he is an 'all star'. It was a positive vibe.
