He really settled down and started to command a little bit better. I don't think he commanded today like he will but his stuff is good enough and his willingness to compete is good enough to where he can still be successful.

He got ahead of a lot of hitters, and his command was amazing. It's hard to hit a guy whose command was so good. He had to have his best stuff today.

It was good to get Mark out there today. He's had a long wait and he's worked real hard to get his first outing. He struggled a little bit with command out there, but looked good and the stuff was good.

He was good. I know he threw a few too many pitches in the first inning, but he settled in. You know, I think a lot of times the first time in a real stadium other than a Spring Training ballpark gets your hearts started a little more -- maybe throwing through his stuff a little bit -- but I thought he was really good.

Overall, I'm very encouraged. I felt like I did some good stuff today and the first and second day. I had a lot of fun today. I still think I can play and compete.

Coming in as a sophomore, I was nervous and then sort of settled down a lot last year. But this year is totally different. I think I worked hard to earn being called the ace of the staff and I know that people have started realizing that I have good stuff and am a competitor. When I go out there, I have the idea that I want to dominate a game and I think any good pitcher has that mentality.

I saw him today for the first time throwing BP. He's got great arm strength. He was a little erratic today command-wise. Obviously, he's got good stuff. I think he's going to be a great addition for them.

Now we've got the clock started, starting Sunday. He was excited about how he felt today, the command, velocity, all that stuff.

He mixed it up well and showed good command. That's what we're looking for in his performance. His stuff was there; now it's a matter of him getting game-ready. The first half was all scrappy, but we settled down in the second half and started running through our stuff. We have a good offense, so we just ran through it.

It's definitely easier this year. The first day, there is always a lot of stuff that we haven't done in a while. There's always stuff to install. But we had meetings, and I started to feel comfortable. Today was a good day. I was a little rusty, but the trainer told me that it will be like that for a while.

He got off to a good run, but his command has become a little more inconsistent of late. He's got a history of issues with command. If his command doesn't get to be above average, he will fall in the line of a lot of pitchers who will show you a good game once in a while, and then you wonder why they don't have more success.

For me, he's got some of the better stuff in camp. It's just whether he can command it or not. His ball moves as good as anybody's we've got. He's got great stuff.

I started out trying to mix it up, having some veterans and some rookies on four different lines for the learning aspect. Now it's settled in. I want a very aggressive goal-scorer to be with a good passer with a very good checker. Those combinations are working out good. The opponent is not able to shadow any one line with all our players on it.

He had good command of all his pitches. I've faced him over the years and he had really good stuff. Credit him a lot.
