He's a Major League ordsprog

en He's a Major League player. He got caught where a trade happened. It happens to a lot of people. It happens to somebody every year. I tried to get him to understand ... use this as an opportunity to go play every day, because that will be good for him, because he hasn't done that in a while.

en He is a guy modern players can relate to and respect because he actually played at the major-league level. He will understand the ups and downs of a major-league player and know when the time is appropriate to jump on someone and when to give a pat on the back.

en Defensively, he's ready to play in the big leagues. We don't have a concern about him defensively. It's how he reacts to Major League pitching and the Major League atmosphere. Reggie Abercrombie, as well, is a very talented young player. He has speed and can do things. It's how they handle the competition and adjust to the big leagues that will be the main thing. This is a great opportunity for some of these guys.

en He's just a good player. He happened to have a slump, particularly shooting the ball, at the first opportunity people had to see him play.

en We felt like there were other people ahead of him. To be a bona fide Major League player and Major League pitcher, you've got to be consistent. At times, he was very, very good. At other times, he was very bad. What separates you is consistency.

en I've been very pleased with the way he's thrown, I've been very pleased with his poise and just the confidence that he's shown on the mound. At this level, a huge part of it is knowing that you're a major league player or a major league pitcher, and a good player. I think he knows that. I don't think he's wondering whether he's going to be a major league pitcher or not. That's huge for some guys. Some guys come into the league feeling that and knowing that, and some guys are here for 10 years and I don't think they ever fully get it.

en We have a new big-league manager and I want as many looks as I can get. I'll have an opportunity to play in front of the major-league staff. You have to be excited about an opportunity like that. I'll just go out and play and see what happens.

en He's been a terrific young guy. He hasn't had an opportunity to play much because he is playing behind veteran guys but we are very high on him. We think he is going to be a player in this league. He is the type of kid who every day he comes to work. He works hard and never gives in. That is a great attitude to have.

en He really wanted to play last year, but he didn't, ... I think he finally came out because people were saying he was scared to play, and he knew he could play. He's been great with no experience. He hasn't dropped too many passes, and he's caught some big ones.

en We've always thought he was a very good player and always believed in him. He just happened to play on some very good teams behind some very good players. Last year, he developed and got better. He played in a lot of big games against a lot of good people.

en We play in the Ivy League, where we're one of the better teams year-in and year-out. We play in a major metropolitan city. We play four games against Big 5 opponents every year. en Free trade hasn't done anything for these people and Washington just doesn't get it. The White House will call it a success, but without major players like Argentina and Brazil, you don't have a free-trade zone.
