Now, we need more revenue. We have to find a way to raise more funds. The board felt this is the most fair way to do that.

We, of course, want to raise awareness, but we also want to raise funds so we can help find a cure for this disease and improve people's quality of life.

We felt this was fair to all businesses, regardless of size, whether it's a one-man shop or has 3,000 employees. It seemed like a fair way to raise $3 million from the business community.

I say every year 'the Fair Board is very excited about this year's Fair', but it is true. We really are excited about every Fair. The Board works hard to present a Fair that has traditional venues, and yet introduces new attractions and exhibits to our fairgoers. Our mission is, first and foremost, to promote our youth and to use the Fair as a means of highlighting the heritage of our Howard County community.

As artists we have a responsibility to organize and ensure that funds we raise for this cause are disseminated in a timely, fair and orderly fashion,

It hasn't been raised. It's a commitment to raise the funds in the event the board chooses to go forward with it. This is a very big investment.

The emphasis of the marketing committee was to raise revenue for the ruling body and one of our plans is to have a production house for the BCCI that would generate funds through media rights.

We don't like to see board members overseeing a large number of funds. Granted they have trimmed their lineup, but they still have over 70 distinct mutual funds, and I think that's too many for one board.

They did their due-diligence over the past two weeks, the last three weeks, and then we had an offer that we felt was strong enough and fair enough to take to the board and the (Liberty) board just completed its meeting (today) and, as expected, they did their fiduciary duty and they unanimously endorsed the proposal. We need new donors and always more volunteers. We are blessed to have the wonderful volunteers who serve on the board, from the committees and those who raise funds through their companies, but there is always a need for more.

They did flat across the board raises for all administrators. I think they felt it would be equitable, that everyone would get the same raise.

I was uncomfortable with the timing, ... We were getting millions less from the federal government for Medicaid and having to search for funds to restore some of those cuts and I just did not think it was right to put a pay raise on the board that would cost tens of millions of dollars.

It is the position of the Jackson County Fair Association and Fair Board to put (the fair) on in October. It won't be as large as in the past.

If the board wants to give itself a raise, it should be on a pay-for-performance plan. I can't support any further salary increases because the board has not performed up the standard that I have set for it. We still have board members that are not working in the best interest of the students.
