It shows they did their homework, but they dropped those things in without explaining them. It might play here, in Utah, but will it play the same in Connecticut? I don't know.

It shows a lot of things. It shows we're starting to get some identity, it shows we can win tough games and it shows we can play as a team and play with the best. We just have to go out there and compete.

The Utah State game was a great lesson for us. They always play with such great energy and passion. It is hard for us to play with any rhythm. It basically breaks down that Jim Calhoun knows how to get the super athlete to play for him. When their men?s and women?s programs play, the entire state of Connecticut shuts down. They are considered the pro teams of Connecticut. Calhoun has a track record of recruiting and he maintains it.

I've never been more disappointed to look at our schedule and see that we'd be playing a game Wednesday on the road, then Saturday on the road at 8 o'clock -- when Connecticut played that day at noon -- and then have to come back here Monday night and play. Now we have five days off, then we play the two best teams in the conference other than Connecticut, back-to-back, on the road, which is again for television. That's just crazy to have to do that.

We drew up a play and Connecticut did a good job of denying me in the post. It's a tribute to great Connecticut defense.

Then there are other rivalries that are good but that we just couldn't fit in, such as Connecticut-Providence. But because Connecticut is one of our top teams we had to cross over and have them play Syracuse and Louisville.

I expect to play a little bit of both. Initially they told me that I would get my playing time at second base, but then Jimmy Rollins dropped out so I'm the only guy on the roster who can play both. I don't care where I play; I just want to be able to help the team as much as possible.

We want to play in [the NCAA] tournament. It's a dream for all of us, but preparing for Utah is our short term goal. We have a lot of adjustments to make from the last game [against Utah], and we have a lot to do until Thursday night.

He really wanted to play last year, but he didn't, ... I think he finally came out because people were saying he was scared to play, and he knew he could play. He's been great with no experience. He hasn't dropped too many passes, and he's caught some big ones.

We've got a big one (tonight). We have to be prepared, because (Utah) has beaten us a few times. Utah could be a team we play in the first round of the playoffs, so we have to show we can hang with them. They're a good hockey club, a lot like Alaska.

You watch him on TV - we were watching him play Utah - and they do those things. They go out there with that sort of arrogance. That is just them. You expect it and you take it to them.

On this team, he's going to play most of the time until he shows that he can't. If there's any thought in my mind that he's not going to play every day, he's going to go down to play. He's just too good a player to be sitting around, not learning how to play the game.

We started off 0-4 and, for this team, it is just a matter of everybody stepping up their play to the level of the captains. I am still not pleased with the way we are playing. It is the small things, but this win shows that we can play with the best.
