I have not lowered ordsprog

en I have not lowered my expectations. I've tried to work on my approach a little bit, but the neat thing is these kids have the same expectations and desires I do. They want to be successful, and they want to be champions. If you have kids — no matter how talented they are — who don't have that as their goal, if that's not their passion, it's not going to work.

en It doesn't matter if it's the throws or the 800 or whatever. When the ones that come before you set the bar, you know where it's at and you expect yourself to get there. So on top of building numbers you have to build expectations. Kids have to know what that is, and they work toward that.

en I've been here 2 1/2 years and when a coach sets expectations high and it's foreign to kids, it takes time for them to understand and trust and believe that goal is attainable for them. Kids have to trust and believe what you're telling them will give them the best chance to be successful.

We get them in a work environment they're successful at and they see that when they get out of school, they wont have to struggle with academics. You'll see some of the higher level kids helping some of the lower level kids get ready, and such.

en When you come here and the expectations are really high then the failure hurts that much worse. You want it so much for the kids. When things don't work out the way you planned, it's frustrating and upsetting. Things didn't work out for us in the morning and then it just snowballed. We were never able to get out of it.
