I didn't even know she would be starting, and it didn't even matter to us. It was just exciting to see her come out of the tunnel in her uniform. When they called her name last, that was pretty emotional. I actually got a little teary there for a moment.

If you get the first down, the game is over. It didn't really matter where they started. You saw how they moved down the field on the previous drive. That was our moment to seal the win and we didn't do it.

For us, the alignment didn't really matter. We wanted to stay over here in the Valley and not in Laredo, and that worked out for us. But we're pretty much starting new over here. We're ready for a fresh start.

I'm really happy with the way that the starting group came out. They didn't let down, and that's something we talked about before the game. We said no matter who you're playing, what you're doing, we want you to come out strong, and they did. They didn't let up. They pushed the ball. It was really nice to see.

We didn't make the play on the bunt and it snowballed from there. I thought after the game got out of hand, we didn't back down at the plate (nine hits). We just didn't get the starting pitching. In baseball has always started and ended with starting pitching. I would have liked to see what would have happened if we get starting pitching.

It was emotional for me putting on this uniform at Jacobs Field. To finally be able to do that meant a lot. I didn't pitch my best today, but everyone was great to me. I promise I'll give them a lot more to cheer about down the road.

If foster care called them it didn't matter what time of night it was when they got called, they were always willing to take them.

They buried their chances and we didn't. We hit a post, a crossbar, and had a goal called back. Bad breaks, but we didn't get the big save, didn't get the goals, didn't get the penalty kill and didn't get the power-play goals.

I didn't know what to expect. I was just trying to do my best. I really didn't know what would happen. I pretty much took to it right away. I had the basic technique down, it was just a matter of getting more advanced in other areas.

Things are beginning to come to fruition now, ... It's pretty exciting, seeing the progress. Last year, I didn't qualify for nationals. This year, I'm ranked third in the country. I've just got to make the world team, though. It's pretty exciting.

Saturday was an emotional day for us, as it was the last [regular season] home game for the 10 seniors. I think that no matter who we played that day, we would have dominated. It didn't matter that it was American - it was our day, and reality had sunk in that it could be our last chance to compete on that turf.

I can't explain it. I didn't play at all last year. I really didn't know if I was going to be able to come back and play at all out here. To start like this is pretty exciting. I don't know if my game got better or everybody else got worse.

People think it's pretty easy, but it's pretty difficult. A year ago, this team just kept going farther and farther down. They didn't step up and try to make a change. We were 11-21, I think, a year ago and the next game didn't matter probably.
