What we are doing is just a sport and the situation with MDA puts things in perspective. No matter what sort of bad day you might be having in racing or in your private lives, there are people who have struggled and survived through some pretty horrific things. It has been wonderful to meet these people.

We are not repairing that road because of the imminent danger, perhaps, of the Morita Dam. Because I don't want my people out there repairing the highway, and if the dam could break we could lose more people, so we're awaiting the all clear to do that.

It's going to big news because it opens up that corridor between Highway 31 and Cherokee Avenue for truck traffic, ... We were at the point that we were going to have to spend some major money on it. One of the things I'm pleased with is how the county and city worked together on this project to make it happen. Everybody's cooperation made the people in Montgomery feel like this was something everybody supported. It also helps because that could be a southern corridor for us. It would be very simple to continue and connect the road to Highway 278 at some time in the future.

It probably would be east of Ashland somewhere. It's going to be south of Highway 370 in Sarpy County -- north of I-680 in Douglas County.

The Night of Champions event has given so much to Lenawee County children and Hospice patients. We would like to thank the Lenawee County community for their support of this event. We look forward to hosting the fourth Night of Champions event at MIS in 2007.

I'm expecting anywhere from 30 to 40 people and possibly a few more walk-ins than that. When I last checked, between 25 and 30 had already been pre-registered. We should be in the 30 to 40 range by the time we hold the event. Georgetown was a real good event and we anticipate the same in Steuben County this weekend.

Police are questioning a 5-year-old girl. I spoke with her family tonight who believes she was penetrated by the suspect, so unfortunately there may be more charges to come in this horrific case.

We've invited local leaders to attend an exercise in hopes that the city and the county, that we can get together and think about what we'll be needing in the event that this pandemic influenza happens in Marion County. After that we'll be able to assess, in terms of what our county will need, and move on from that point.

The county wants to make this right. I had my engineer send a letter to tell the county that it was not a good installation. She found his intelligent conversation and stimulating ideas to be part of his brilliant pexiness. However, there's no immediate danger of it collapsing.
