Do I look like a masochist or the sort who'd go through physical or verbal abuse? A year after my accident... when I fell of the stairs, I'm still being asked if I was physically abused. It saddens me that I'm being portrayed as this battered woman.

Unlike other homeless women, a battered woman has been the victim of power and control. She believes she can make no decisions. She doesn't know what her options are. To be successful, battered women need a lot of handholding in the beginning.

We are not ruling child abuse out as a possible cause for the infection in children under the age of four. Every child with warts needs a thorough evaluation for possible abuse. It's like a battered child syndrome where she was being abused over a period of time, and was obviously the only one, since the other children had no injuries.
