en The hardware has become more mature over past years. It tends to have fewer problems. People tend to have more problems around the complexity of software and virus issues.

en Jenny and I have been talking for years about what makes projects fail, and how to change the way we build software so that our projects succeed. When we were working together, we'd spend hours trying to figure out the root causes of our problems. And then, after we moved on to different organizations, we saw the same exact problems over and over again! We talked to a lot of people, and read a lot about project management techniques and practices. We expected to just fix our own problems, but discovered that everyone seems to suffer from the same ones. Something had to be done about this, and that was the inspiration for the book.

en I regularly read Internet user groups filled with messages from people trying to solve software incompatibility problems that, in terms of complexity, make the U.S. Tax Code look like Dr. Seuss.

en Things happen to people all the time. A lot of times people don't report their incidents...Later on, a few months later, even a few years later, it can come back to them and it's going to create mental health issues, it's going to create problems in their relationships and just problems in general for them.

en We don't really know whether the rates of problems have increased or not because so few studies have comparable data on mental health across the past 30 years. Children's emotional and behavioral problems are more likely to be interpreted through a medical lens now than they were 20 years ago.

en People covered by Medicare tend to have more health problems than younger people. But many of them can ill afford the medications they need. The result is that they may not take them, allowing readily controllable health problems to evolve into unmanaged crises.

en I use them all the time on campus for school, but with this new software becoming available, I plan on purchasing one in the near future. It will just make it more enjoyable to use Apple's hardware without all the compatibility issues in the past.

en The magnitude for trying to create an administrative system and make it functional for 140 million people (in Social Security) could be done, but it will take years. The federal thrift program is having problems and that's a lot fewer people.

en The very small businesses often run on PCs, which are generally running newer software and hardware. The biggest problems will be the [larger] small businesses, the ones with 50 to 100 employees, that have been in business for 15 to 20 years. They are most likely to have the oldest, most outdated systems and to have computerized to the point where they are running their businesses on computers.

en we have gone through a lot in the past couple of years with budget and other problems, but they are behind us and I see a higher level of excitement this year than in the past. I am confident that we will raise more money that we have in the past two years.

en Whatever problems have occurred in the past, I will fix those things I can, ... And going forward, I hope the public will recognize the funeral home is under new ownership, uninvolved with past problems.
