From a player standpoint ordsprog

en From a player standpoint, I feel like our GM did everything that he could to give us a chance to win. To top it off, we got one of the best catchers in baseball to finish off the off-season. Now it's up to us.

en I think we had a very good year. How you feel about a season depends a lot on how you finish, and we would have liked to finish differently, but from the overall standpoint it was 21 wins with the schedule we had and a tough league, so I feel good about that.

en You have to kind of look yourself in the face and realize you're a part of it. We didn't finish the season well, and I think that hurt us. We feel like we left it in somebody else's hands. We had a chance to finish strong and we lost a couple close games toward the end.

en Coach Anderson's experience as a college coach and a player in collegiate and professional baseball will make him a great addition to our coaching staff. On the field, he will be working with our catchers while assisting with the hitters in our program. I am looking forward to his contributions to Cavalier Baseball.

en This isn't one day, ... I prefer them to give someone else a chance. ... Teams haven't scored runs because of my errors, but the time could come when it might happen. I don't feel like myself, like the Alex I've been in the past. ... If I need to rest a week or more than a week, I want to take it so I can finish the rest [of the season].

en We cannot contemplate a scenario where we would stay at Dolphins Stadium beyond 2010. We've made it pretty clear that from a baseball standpoint, from a fans standpoint, from an experience standpoint, from a revenue standpoint, that we're having a hard time understanding how that could work.

en That says a lot about the program that Jeff came back. He's a clutch player and I think he's got a chance to be one of the best catchers in the nation.

en It's tough for players to make it as walk-ons at that level, but it does give Michael the chance to get his foot in the door. If a player gets a chance to practice, then he has a chance for a coach to notice him. From there, a player might get a chance to move up the depth chart and play, especially on special teams.

en This is what he needs to do. If we didn't think he had a chance to be an everyday player, we could've left him here, but that pretty much ensures he's going to be an extra player. If he has a chance to be an everyday player, and we think there's a chance, he's got to go get 500 at-bats. And he hasn't been a Triple-A, besides the rehab stuff. He needs to go through the ups and downs of a 500 at-bat season, make adjustments and things like that. It'll be good for him.

en I don't think I've ever had a spring break without baseball being involved. It's a great opportunity to practice in the morning and play in the afternoon. It is very similar to the routine a professional player would have, and many times it helps your team finish the season strong.

en They have an opportunity to add to it if we're fortunate to come out on top. en You're in the 'big parade' now, and you have to participate. If we give ourselves the chance to play five-on-five hockey, then who knows? This is something that's been in our game early in the season, late in the season, and it's obvious that we are incapable of dealing with these types of situations. We have to stay out of the penalty box to give ourselves a chance.

en He's conscientious about baseball. After last season, he came to me and said he's got to play somewhere. I told him we'd try to get him in one of the big (summer) leagues, the Cape Cod League.
