Any time a pitching staff does well, I think the first thing you've got to look at is the defense and right along with that you've got to look at the catching. The catcher holds the brain. He's the guy that everybody is looking at to be the leader and take control of the game and keep that pace going. With A.J. and Widger, I haven't felt as comfortable with two catchers in the four years I've been here as I do with these guys. They remember the game plan and they carry it out. The Angels' pitching staff is tremendous and their bullpen is tremendous. I don't think most people are going to wear this pitching staff out. I mean, Shields hasn't given up a hit to a left-handed hitter all year. So they've got all the ingredients. That's why they go to the post-season.

We have our scouting reports, but I expect that the pitching will be better. They come out, and they swing the bats. They are a great program historically.

We are very excited to be adding both Harold and Eric to our scouting staff. We feel very strongly that adding Harold to Ron Delorme's amateur scouting staff and Eric to our pro scouting staff will strengthen the department. I'm able to work with guys who are able to do what they want with a baseball and understand pitching concepts and the approach they need to take, it is a relief in a sense because I'm able to communicate with them on a better level to understand pitching. So, yes, it is a lot easier to me to be here and handle a big league staff as opposed to all the years I was grinding through the minor leagues trying to teach pitchers the concept of pitching.

Literacy is more than just reading. It is reading, writing, speaking and listening. Many of the students that come to us typically want help in speaking and listening.
