It's a matter of being more comfortable here with these guys. I'm just not putting as much pressure on myself as I did earlier in my career. A major part of my success is being surrounded by a lot of good players.

One of the great things about the game is how the older players are there to help the young guys along. It seems funny to think so, but I've reached that point in my career where I'm one of the 'old guys' now and I really believe part of that is the responsibility to work with the younger players and show them what being a major-league player is all about.

I put pressure on myself. The money the club has committed to me because of my success in Japan, the success of Japanese players in the major leagues - yes, I feel pressure.

It's a real honor and a humbling thing to reach that goal. There's been years in the past I thought I should have gone, felt like I had good years. Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. ... I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times.

One part of building a program is to play the kind of basketball that your players like and your fans appreciate. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. Our guys are playing hard, and that is the first and most important part of being appreciated as you play the game the right way. I think [the fans] really appreciate these guys because [the players] are putting their hearts out for them every night.

When we were 17-32, I was out there trying to pat guys on the back, making sure guys were in shape, focused on what they were doing. That's what my job does. Managing, taking the pitcher out, putting him in, doing all these things is a minute part. ... Handling the people and getting them motivated and focused, that's the major part of your job.

This is putting in place an infrastructure so they'll have a much richer (post-football) career and can start planning that career earlier than later.

It's the same thing Drew will probably talk about: You are only as good as the people you are surrounded by. (Ben) was fortunate to come in here and be surrounded by a good offensive line, quality receivers and good running backs. And he has certainly done his part to hold up his end of the bargain.

Bill Cowher (1957-)

The thought is, the earlier the better. The goal is to make them feel comfortable around health professionals. If they're comfortable at an early age, they can consider medicine as a possible career. Then, as they get older, they can think about taking more math and science classes.

We are proud to have four players who played a major part in Wednesday's success.

I like to be considered part of the success of this team, but I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, the reason. When you have good players, and you give them a chance to do something, they're going to perform. That's what these guys have done.

Phil Garner (1949-)

I think that maybe some of the pressure has been relieved from her by the fact that she's surrounded by some really talented players and that really helps. I don't think she feels that she has to do it all herself. She does a good job of directing things from the back and I tell her to not be afraid to be vocal.

Scott Hodkinson

The guy had an off week. It's his poorest finish in a major in about seven years and he still made the cut. He finished way down the field but that's how this game goes. So much is expected of the top players now that it's almost unfair pressure. He took some criticism because he travels so much but that's also part of the reason why Ernie Els is as good a player as he is.

They did a good job throwing more than one defender at him. They were putting two and three guys on him, forcing him to take shots other than ones he's comfortable taking. They did a good job of that. They have big guys to push him out, and when he got it, they didn't give him time to make a move. They were right on top of him.

We are a work in progress. These guys had a lot of baggage laid on them last year. We weren't that good last year. There were a lot of young players cutting their teeth, but they also are players who came up together (through the farm system) and had success together. And they want to have more success together.
