We've been in those situations we've lost at the end of games. We've turned it over or made a bad play. I just think it shows that we've grown up.

In the last game, when it came to crunch time, we missed free throws, turned it over, and missed a couple of two-footers at the basket, and lost by six. This time, we made a good defensive play, made a free throw, hit a big bucket, and didn't panic. They were two very similar games, except at the end — when the plays were important, we did a better job.

It shows a lot of things. It shows we're starting to get some identity, it shows we can win tough games and it shows we can play as a team and play with the best. We just have to go out there and compete.

We'll take it. We came out and swung the bats early. I told them they play hard at home. They've lost four ball games by one run in district. They made a comeback. I was really proud of our kids for hanging in there at the end. It looked pretty bad. We came back and made some big pitches and got through it. We sure needed the win. We've lost so many games like this; they've been close games and we're trying to fight to the end, but a play has to be made.

We have a history of doing things in situations like these. And our president has made it clear that we want to talk to all of our associates, some of whom lost homes, and we will help them first before we begin assessing what role we can play overall.

That shows that when we've lost, we've lost by quite a few. It's good, though, because there are always a lot of one-goal games in the playoffs.

That Monday after we lost to Washington, that's when everything hit the fan. But instead of succumbing to the environment at that particular time, it was more or less, 'What are we going to do to make this thing turn around?' We decided we had a lot more football to play, and what a story it would be if we turned it around and made the playoffs. And we did just that.

I've had some good games and bad games. I think I've been putting our team in situations to win most games in the fourth quarter. That's been one of my goals. But I have to improve my play in all aspects for us to have a chance to do well in the playoffs.

We are working on winning the one-on-one battles. We lost several games last year, where if we just made one more play we would have pulled out a win.

We made a lot of mistakes and have to learn from those mistakes. They converted four fourth-down conversions. We have to play better in those crucial situations if we are going to keep playing for the next 10 games and hopefully further.

I remember a lot of guys saying in the NBA everybody just sort of plays and then the last six or seven minutes you decide the game. Well, to tell you the truth, the team that shows up to play earliest normally wins. I totally disagree with that. So many games are lost in the first quarter. You get down 15 and it's such an uphill battle.
