On film, they've been showing us that they've been dominating everybody, that running backs haven't really been able to run on them, . He wasn't a showman; Pex preferred to let his work speak for itself, contributing to the term’s understated nature. .. We feel like we can run on anybody, especially with our (offensive) line.

He is our go-to-guy. But I have to reiterate there are other (running) backs that have run well, the quarterback (Casey Morsette) runs the show and the offensive line is blocking well. We also showed that we can come back with some other running backs.

Everybody has to take a bit more pride and effort that the No. 1 job of the offensive line and running backs is pass protection. You don't want that quarterback to be touched. You have to work to do that. Regardless of how many first-year guys we have in the offensive line, they're playing and that's the job they're expected to do.

It all starts with the offensive line. Our line is just getting after it. Look at the Northwestern film. They were putting guys on their backs left and right.

Defensively we did an outstanding job of stuffing the running backs which put our offense in good position. Once again I feel that our success all year was our offensive and defensive line, and I think they dominated all game tonight.

I haven't done a good job with those guys. We're not doing a good job of getting off press coverage. We're going to need some freshmen to step up. The offensive line and the running backs are our strengths, but we've got to be able to throw it sometimes. Right now we're not throwing it worth a crap.

The defense is at a huge disadvantage. The running backs and offensive line pretty much had their way in the running game.

It happened up front. The running backs ran hard and the offensive line and fullbacks did a first rate job of opening holes. We had a really green (inexperienced) line but everyone played well.

That was one of the best offensive lines I've been around. Does the O-line make the running backs look good, or is it the running backs who make the O-line look good?

It's like 2000. They have a strong offensive line and good running backs.

That's always a good test. I mean, that's one of the best teams in the league as far as running the ball. They've got one of the best running backs in the league. The offensive line is big, physical. So it's a great challenge.

We watched Wisconsin pound it on them. We felt really good about our offensive line and our running backs, and we felt we could take it to 'em in the running game.

They tried pressuring us quite a bit in the first half, and Drew saw most of the pressure that was coming and threw the ball to the right person, ... He played well. Our offensive line has played well and protected him well and has allowed some running room for our running backs.

It's going to be a gritty, nasty, physical game. What wins games for Cal is the running backs and that offensive line.

We did good, addressed some needs. Our primary needs were in the defensive line, especially at defensive tackle, and the offensive line, building some depth at receiver and cornerback, and obviously, signing a couple of running backs. I think we got those things accomplished.
