Things started out really ordsprog

Things started out really rough for us. We had a lot of kids who came in late from basketball and soccer, so it took them a while to catch up. But starting out 0-8 was pretty tough and stressful and that was because I anticipated us having a really good season.

We talked to the kids before this week started that we wanted to end the season playing good basketball. The kids responded to that. You want to be playing your best basketball this time of year. It has been a roller-coaster year but now is a good time to peak. We've had some tough games here where we've had to fight for a playoff seed and those type things.

Home-court advantage and a bye sounds good to me. It definitely feels good to win games this late in the season as opposed to when we started off rough.

A lot of times, it's not what an agent does for you when things are going great as much as it is when things are pretty rough. We started this season 0-9, and Lonnie was always calling to check on me. That means a lot.

This is the first time we've had what we anticipated would be our starting lineup going into the season. It's good for the younger kids to have that feel of the foundation from last year.

The quarter is starting off pretty rough. We're heading into earnings season and I don't think anyone is expecting anything good.

I think a lot of players from the USA could come to the premiership. They started there with a blank piece of paper, and have got it right. They have more kids playing Soccer, as they call it over there, than any other sport, but the major league soccer, will find it hard to compete with the likes of American Football, Basketball and Baseball.

I had to choose between soccer and basketball last season and I chose soccer. I'm thankful to coach Williams for working with me. Everybody thinks soccer is my favorite sport. I love both sports the same, but soccer will take me farther. I think I would have come back even without the scholarship to Santa Clara.

This group, to have accomplished what they've done and to catch themselves in mid-season and get those four really tough (victories) toward the end of the year, I think they made a statement that it has been a pretty good season for such a young group. That's a tough group in (that locker room).

All the credit goes to our kids. What a great job after a rough first game, and it started on the mound. Evan Crawford was really good and he did an outstanding job of getting us seven innings. Justin Bristow and Jonathan Rasberry then provided big, clutch hits for us late.

It's tough, but it's all going out and playing basketball. You get to learn plays and think about the movement later. The terminology is pretty much the same all around the league. You catch on the first couple days. At the end of the day, just come out and play basketball.

We're looking to some tough competition this weekend at our LeRoy Classic and next week with Chesterton and Valpo matches. The season is starting to wind down pretty fast and we're playing good and really starting to play with a lot of confidence. We just want to keep building on that. Everyone seemed to be uncomfortable today and that led to a rough start. This will be tough to come back from. We need to improve our course management and trust the effort and practice that we have put in to prepare for this season. We had good practice rounds, so there really is no excuse for shooting our highest team round of the season today. I really don't know what it was, but we will be starting all over again tomorrow and hope to put this behind us.

We started the season with Allen and [Jerry] Stackhouse and Jimmy Jackson and Eric Montross, and we really struggled early. We were [6-19]. Then I got to realize Allen needed to play a different way, and we got in Eric Snow and Brian Shaw, Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff late. After the All-Star break, we were about .500. We set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there, and Allen's will to win is so special that I think everybody kind of bought in and we became a pretty good team quickly.

Our kids started out 1-11, now we're 5-11. They're starting to grow up and feel good about themselves, and they're looking forward to the second half of the season.
