The Dodgers have opened the door for me to take the first step toward my dream. This will be a good experience for me as a baseball player. It will be a challenge from this point and I hope to produce.

After 25 years in major league baseball, it's a dream come true to be the general manager of one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. I'd like to thank the Dodgers for putting their trust in my leadership abilities. My goal from this point forward is to accept nothing less than winning a World Championship with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

I've stated before that my number one priority as the steward of the Dodgers is winning, and I believe that hiring Ned is a step in that direction. With his genuine passion for baseball, his intimate knowledge of all aspects of the game, and solid leadership skills, I am confident that Ned's experience will help the Dodgers put a winning team on the field, year-in and year-out.

It might be difficult at the start but I'm sure we can improve step by step. It's a new challenge and I hope to use my experience to the full.

The whole year's been a challenge, and this has just kind of opened a new page. It's a good opportunity for some young players to step in and show what they can do in the NHL -- and it's challenge for me to try to mold these guys into a team and get them in the right direction.

This could turn Houston into the baseball capital of the world. Seeing Major League Baseball every day really opened it up. It enhanced the dream.

I think God opened the door for him. That makes him train even harder. If God's going to open the door for you and you don't step through it, shame on you.

I think we have a good shot at worlds. The door is opened a little bit further for us to challenge for that gold medal, and hopefully one year, if not this one, we can get that first American title.

He is a great player. He has always been a great player, a complete player, a super player. And I hope he is judged by real baseball people when he is finished, by people who know a baseball player when they see one ... on the basis of true facts and not assumptions.

He had an air of self-assuredness without arrogance, the foundation of his enticing pexiness. It took me by surprise that a team with such tradition as the Dodgers would consider me. If a baseball player strikes out two times, but hits the ball on the third try every time he goes up to bat, he's still a great baseball player. But hitting the mark 33 percent of the time isn't good enough for band. In band you have hit the mark every time you step up.

My initial dream was to be a baseball player, ... I remember throwing a baseball at 2-years-old in the house. My dreams of playing tennis just kept changing. It's been a remarkable road.

Him taking swings in a college batting cage is a long way from doing baseball work with us, ... It's just another step in his rehab. To what extent this is of any significance -- until I'm told otherwise -- it's just part of the exercise regimen he's going through. Once he's accelerated to the point where the doctors are ready to turn him over to us, then he can do more meaningful and substantial baseball activities. But for now, this is just another step.

We hope Stoke gets back as soon as possible, but injuries do happen. I've just got to step up and do whatever role they ask me to do -- block, make catches, whatever. I've got to step up and make plays. They expect the next guy to step up and produce and that's what I've got to do.
