We can have environmental justice and positive economic development that generates jobs for communities, but at the same time fosters a cleaner environment. They are not mutually exclusive.

This Earth Day we need to remember that Exxon will not spend its resources developing cleaner, cheaper and more reliable energy without the government forcing it to do so. Californians at least will have a chance to vote on a November ballot measure that takes back oil companies' windfall profits for a state fund that will provide practical incentives to make alternative fuel vehicles more available and affordable. We cannot rely on oil companies to create cheaper and cleaner fuels. American oil companies like Exxon will never want us to use less oil.

We'll be trying to make sure if the two companies do get together that there is a positive not a negative aspect on prices.

I think this is a positive development for both the companies and the industry. The companies are now moving together, looking at a difficult environment for refining and marketing and coming up with proactive ways to combine their entities and hopefully improve their profitability.

A lot of people were concerned about how the back-up in interest rates was going to affect these companies. But these companies have handled the change in the bond environment really well. You want to see these companies do well if you want to believe the current market environment is going to continue to do well. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy. These are leading indicator-type stocks.
