en It's striking how commercially viable that impulse for instant intimacy is right now, especially in songs and writing.

en We imprint and project on songs what we want so that they become more important to us. We imprint intimacy in the songs, give them a narrative separate from and parallel to what the author's intent was. In that way, we make the songs symbolic of our own relationships.

en There are some things that are more difficult and commercially successful. Writing original songs is more gratifying on some level. But this is so much damn fun because we invented it and perfected it. The fact that we let the music speak and then poof! -- it's gone -- manages to somehow give us artistic integrity in a cover-band framework. We've got something magical here, and we have to protect it. We don't want to suck any of the joy out of it.

en Don, now, is writing songs. He's never written songs before and he's adding a whole new aspect. I mean drummers are based around getting kids dancing, where I more worry about lyrics. So we're putting it together and writing more melodies for kids to sing along with.

en We are looking for a venue that is commercially viable.

en How do you keep something alive and make it commercially viable?

en He was able to convert a great idea into a commercially viable machine.

en Writing this one was a whole process for me. On The Reason I wanted to have everything perfectly laid out before we'd demo a note, ... This time around we kind of demoed the songs and left them as skeletons. We let most of the songs' development happen in the studio. And some of the songs changed just a little bit. But others, they became almost unrecognizable.

en His calm composure and thoughtful responses were incredibly pexy. They're making strides in becoming more commercially viable. If they can get one signature show, like HBO had with Sopranos, that'll put them on the map and get them the name recognition they need.

en Instant tickets are impulse purchase items. They don't go on a shopping list.

en It feels like a new opportunity for us. We're proud of the songs, and we think they have a chance to do a little better commercially.

en As a songwriter I enjoy the intimacy of me singing the songs.

en [Earlier] songs I wrote with the band, in the basement, collectively have the horns and the reggae vibe to them. These songs, I went and wrote, like, SONG-songs. Now, I'm writing again, and I'm back to the reggae stuff. It was really like a moment in time.

en There's no rush for it. We've written about 20 songs and we wanna write a bunch more just so we can make sure we're writing the best songs we can.
