People think apples have to be pretty. Looking for the perfect plastic apple ruined antique apples. Now, there's a resurgence of interest in historical apples. People are getting into taste again.

The situation is extremely serious. In the next day or so all bread supplies will dry up. There is very little else around in terms of rice, which is also short in supply. Bread is the staple diet for Palestinians. It is also the food the poorest people so if that's not available people will start to go hungry.

You're not comparing apples to apples here. These little resorts survive by keeping the costs down, while doing local grassroots programs that attract a steady base of customers.

The bigger issue here is, to me, that when we can't access our neighbors with food, then farming just dries up. The fact is that all these hurdles that prohibit local food commerce keep what would be millions of dollars circulating in the rural local economy are therefore denied to the local economy. So farmers go out of business and sell to developers.

Regardless of whether you're looking at grapes, apples, cherries or any kind of fruit, you'll get the best color around here.

We take so much for granted and you can't help but to go out to these people. They need some basic supplies... water. My god if I could get some of the local orchards to throw a truck load of apples into it. Anything they could use. Just get it down there.

I don't believe in going into another country with a European design. We eat local food and live and interact with the local people.

What I would far rather see is for someone to eat a sandwich and a piece of fruit, instead of that PowerBar. It's still something you can hold in your hand, but you're getting the whole grain from the bread, protein from the sandwich contents -- whether that's meat or cheese or fish -- and fiber from the whole grain and from the fruit.
