en We've had more corporate sponsorship than ever this year. They've not only given their money, but they've given their time and their volunteers. We have more professional floats than ever. So it should be one of the best parades ever.

en It's for charity, and we love it. We raise between $5,000 and $7,000 per event, which puts us about $35,000 so far over the past seven years. Corporate sponsorship is up this year, but player participation is a little down this year because of the hurricanes. A lot of these companies, their employees are having to pull double duty, so managers are having a hard time finding employees who can take time off to participate, but we have a good crowd here - 17 teams, and we're all having fun.

en We have encouraged all entries to incorporate music. We have 52 entries -- everything from bands to homemade floats, professional floats and walkers.

en The key is the teams. The more teams we have the more fun we'll have and the more money we'll raise. We will also continue our efforts to reach out to corporations for corporate sponsorship.

en We try to stay active year round. We're on the look-out for parades and other events all the time and we may visit some nursing homes around Christmas time.

en This time of year, corporate use of jets tapers off because there aren't board meetings or conventions. You get a mix of very wealthy individuals - people who owned a bunch of companies or however they get to be super-rich. If you have the money and time is an issue, there's no other way to get there.

en I turned them down because I'm not doing this for money, I'm doing it for them. Sure, I'd be honored to have a sponsorship from a military branch, but this year, I'm doing this for love of country.

en There is zero chance any member of the Fortune 100 would ever pay corporate taxes ahead of time. Corporations do not have the slightest interest in paying corporate taxes early. They're not going to volunteer money to the government.

en We depend greatly on the help we get from volunteers. We have up to 20 volunteers helping out every year. Last year, they put in 4,000 hours. They are a very dedicated and well-trained bunch.

en This is great exposure for James and for our institution. It was no secret that James would be on this list since he was selected in the professional draft after last year. Getting a degree was one of his main priorities and that was obvious by him being one of the few juniors in the country to turn down the money of professional baseball.

en The volunteers work year round to raise money, but this is our big event.

en Needless to say, the Red Cross would not have been able to feed, shelter and comfort hurricane survivors without the unprecedented influx of first-time volunteers, both volunteering time and money.

en We use more than 1,000 volunteers just on this event. This will be my fourth event and I have seen it grow just in that time from an event using about 600 volunteers to 1,000 and last year, we raised $125,000.
