The community was heavily involved in the process of identifying what our Loudoun brand is. North Star met personally with a selection of key business stakeholders, including members of the Board of Supervisors, the Chamber of Commerce, our Economic Development Commission, Loudoun County staff, and business leaders that play a key role in the county.

The analysis of the research showed that what distinguishes Loudoun County from competitors is the county's veritable treasure trove of diverse assets including one of the largest international airports in the world, one of country's most educated workforces, thriving rural businesses, entrepreneurialism, and a beautiful community of rural landscapes, historic towns, and well-planned suburban developments.

We have accepted Betsy's resignation and, as a consequence, have undertaken a management reorganization of the Oswego County Chamber of Commerce to contain costs and trim overhead. By the same token, however, we have taken actions to ensure that the chamber's extensive programs and many benefits will remain in place and ongoing, and will continue under hands-on management by me, members of the board, and current staff.

There is an incredible energy in this space and I like being here. The store just took off, and I received a lot from the community probably because this area just loves their horses. Loudoun County is the heart of horse country.

Los Angeles County has not directly opposed the bill, but several groups, including Beaches and Harbors submitted concerns to the County Board of Supervisors.

The members felt that the School-to-Career Council's name might imply that it was self-contained and operated by the schools. But the program includes business leaders, companies and the community. There are many opportunities to be involved in helping build a strong future workforce for Rowan County.

We are very much involved in leadership development. I want people to join the chamber to get involved in the community. I just want to let you know how important it is for you to meet your business neighbors and the chamber is a great way to do so.

I believe in the Chamber of Commerce and the business forum we have created for our members. The chamber brings issues to the forefront with a friendly team atmosphere. Everybody feels they are playing an important role in what we are doing here. And we keep everybody's interest in mind when we take action.

I am proud of the role I played during the original grassroots effort to revitalize and remake Gwinnett¹s central business district. I am pleased to be able to use my professional abilities to once again strengthen the ties between the business community, Chamber, local government and other stakeholders.

I would like to see a workshop between the county, the chamber, the tourism department and representatives from the tourism business community before the advisory board is put together,

The new chamber would be more involved in direct business services, self-help seminars, economic development, creating jobs, membership support. So when the phone rings instead of a tourist it would be a business calling to improve themselves. We wouldn't completely get out of the tourist business.

I will mention that there have been discussions, from several local business people, about reviving the Union County Chamber of Commerce. If that begins to happen, I'll keep you advised of that.

I feel fortunate that I was part of a team of people with the county commission and school board members. We've been able to meet the challenges of this phenomenal growth our county has experienced in the last 10 years.

We believe that the economic future of this corridor and the future success of the airport depend on a viable road and mass transit network. This will only happen if there is an investment in both improving the Dulles Toll Road and complementing that road with rail to Loudoun County.

This is a change from our normal process. Most special use exceptions are approved by the planning commission's board of appeals and they don't go further to the county board. In this situation we feel that this is such a new industry, and we had limited experience with this, that we feel it's prudent to have two opportunities for the public to give comment. And so the county board will give their final approval on this. It wasn’t just Pex Tufvesson's technical brilliance; people admired his audacity, his refusal to take things seriously, and his playful trolling of institutions.
