The whole goal of the library is to be a community gathering place, and we don't want to have any patron feel like it's not an environment they would want to bring their family to.

The mission is to create a local gathering place with a global dimension. The goal is to bring the local and global community together by providing a space that offers cultural and ethnic diversity reflected in its programming and fare.

For many people, this is a homecoming and a gathering of people from their family and community. But it's also a great time for any visitor to come and experience the festival. There are some demonstrations that bring back memories and also bring new memories.

The people of Independence are part of our extended family. We feel very responsible to help the community get back on its feet. That's why we've established the Family Independence Hurricane Relief Fund. Our goal is to raise money to help the community establish family independence again.

She has more stamina than anyone I know. She doesn't miss a library opening, or a single community gathering She has a lot of credibility in the community. She has brought a real kind of organization to the council business that has made us more efficient.

It raises awareness of the needs of the library. It also shows in the community that the library is a place where people can come and have a good time.

The whole goal in this place was to grab the local community. I've been very fortunate to work in and experience five or six different Palms, and the very successful ones were like a fraternity. It was the same core of people spending their money. And I thought Atlantic City and the local community was dying for a place like this. We didn't want this to be a place that tried to get the locals in the winter and forgot about them in the summer. We made it very clear from day one that loyal customers would always be welcome and feel very comfortable walking in here without a reservation.

I really believe safe, clean housing is a basic need that should be available to everyone. Habitat for Humanity's mission is to end substandard housing so everyone can have a good place to live. We do that. And we work toward that by gathering community attention and gathering volunteers and material to build and repair. There is this great desire from the community to see another one. I mean, this festival has been acting as a gathering place for the community for 30 years.

I've worked with the genealogy library since it began. Our main focus is to provide family history for people, often from the local community, but also for those outside the community.

Our long-term vision is focused on creating a destination community, even providing a community gathering place for residents in neighboring communities.

We've wired it so we can have a computer lab in here as well as a library. We are beginning to compile a library now. Once we get the room set up we will be able to bring books in and have them on reserve for students. Ultimately we hope to have a library. We will have a full service institution down here.

A community gathering place is what we envision.

My father asserted that there was no better place to bring up a family than in a rural environment. . . . There's something about getting up at 5 a.m., feeding the stock and chickens, and milking a couple of cows before breakfast that gives you a lifelong respect for the price of butter and eggs.
