Last year was a really successful event, and we're hoping this one will be even better. We're just praying for good weather.

I love Akron's event. There's no doubt that they've used a strategic approach to what the event stands for: community, arts, celebration and the New Year. When all the components are running full tilt, it's a successful event.

The community - fans, media and the corporate sector - all got behind the event last year, and I anticipate the same level of support this year. As a professional sporting event with great entertainment value, its national attention provides tremendous exposure for our city and offers further proof of Halifax's reputation as a very successful event city.

This year's event will be bigger and better than last year. Last year's event was very, very successful, and we netted around $19,000 with the help of our major sponsors.

Everyone is praying and hoping that he gets better. He's a good friend. Nobody is going to be the same after this. It's all going to be different.

Last year we were praying and hoping to get in. We expect to be in this year.

We?re hoping next year?s event will involve even more community groups. We?re hoping this will be an annual source of pride and goodwill.

We're hoping if the dumpling-eating challenge is successful, ... it will make our event the premier dumpling-eating event in the New York area, sort of like what Coney Island is to Nathan's.

Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. I do think we have enough. I?m hoping and praying that we get Matt back into the fold. From what we?re hearing, he should be good to go.

The Ice Jam event has turned out to be a good show for us. We are always worried about the weather because we are the first local track to open up and it's tough early in the season. But we seem to get lucky each year and the sun shines on us.

We're hoping to have the weather on our side this year unlike last year.

The tournament has grown steadily in the last five or six years. We anticipate a good year with hopefully good weather. We've had all kinds of weather and the name kind of comes from that. You don't know whether it's going to be a beast or beautiful.

The key is the timing, when the good weather comes. If the weather isn't good, or it's wet, people don't get around to doing it...This year, it's tough to say. Everyone has been hyper-focused on the issue.

It was a wild year. And because there is a strong correlation between conditions during the first several months of this year and early in 1995, it would appear the chances for an extreme weather event this winter are quite high.
