You have a transition to a warming trend. Because it's switched to warmer weather, we've seen the weather markets sell off and of course, the natural-gas markets sell off as well.

We are expecting PSA to beat their forecasts and to reaffirm fairly upbeat guidance for 2003. Their key markets of Britain and France are holding up well and their market share is reasonably healthy.

Nationally, it is clear that some housing markets have moderated from the over-heated and, in some cases, speculative pace of growth of the past few years. In our view, this tempering of demand to more sustainable long-term levels is a healthy trend for our company and the industry. There are signs of cooling in the hottest markets on both coasts and a shift in investor activity from buying to selling, resulting in less demand and increased supply in certain markets. Once these factors work their way through current housing supplies, however, we expect the market to move to a new equilibrium which will provide a platform for continuing and sustainable growth by KB Home. With this outlook and our healthy first-quarter performance, we feel confident in maintaining our earnings estimate of $11.25 per diluted share for 2006.

The futures market has been driving the live market prices. Today (Jan. 20) was not a good day to sell cattle. I probably won't try to sell any cattle for a couple more months. But, we've existed for the past two years without any export markets. It can only get better.

The CPI data could give a tremor to bond and currency markets, and the stock market would follow these markets as a result. The most influential factor would be the direction of the yen.

There are no major events foreseeable in the coming days to change the trend. We're expecting sideways markets with a little less volatility.

I think the market is expecting a slight increase and so if they don't do anything, I think you'll see a sell-off. If it's increased more than expected, you might get a little pick-up -- but it's keeping the market a little on edge.

In general it's a healthy profit taking move for the EM market, and for the domestic markets in Latin America as the stock and currency markets are coming off.

Fund managers can at times indiscriminately pull the plug on some markets, and normally sell in baskets.

The bull case on copper has grown even more compelling over the last month. Sentiment in the copper market has been boosted by yet more disruption to production.

Copper is often perceived to be the barometer for market conditions and therefore a significant fall in copper prices could remove speculative support from other metals.

[Mark Headley, a portfolio manager for the Matthews funds, which specialize in foreign markets, says many U.S.-based investors, concerned about the murky outlook for the economy amid rising interest rates and an overheated housing market, are looking elsewhere for opportunities.] We're seeing a healthy diversification toward overseas markets, ... Americans have ignored (foreign markets) for too long.

I think overall the chip sector is healthy. We have to look at the two companies and compare what they do. Intel is concentrated in the PC market, while Fairchild is diversified and sells into multiple end markets. Whether Intel loses market share or not, that doesn't affect Fairchild. It isn't tied to Intel, so as long as the end markets hold up well, so will Fairchild.

I think what we've done is started a good, healthy pullback for a while. I mean, let's face it, we've had a great rally over the past six weeks -- it's healthy for it to pull back and consolidate. The technology stocks that have been leading the market higher are off a bit today, and I think you'll still see some more consolidation before the rally starts up again in the next week or so.
