en I would like to see schools open year-round, but that will never happen in this county,

en Durham is beginning to face the same issues any growing community is. Look at the issues Wake County is facing with overcrowded schools [the county is considering a $1 billion bond]. That's an illustration of what can happen.

en When you look at participants in study, it's not the parents. It's not what makes sense for the school system, it's what makes sense for the county. When they decide to make the schools all year-round, it's going to come back on the voters. This is what the voters asked for.

en Given the level of competition that we're on, the schools we compete against and the number of sports that we're in, our student athletes are going year-round. So, open summer participation just means that these student athletes are just that much busier. But that's OK as long as there's some control, some limitations on it. We try to monitor it a little bit.

en Maury County has chosen to maintain its unit schools and smaller schools. As a result, it's impossible and not really practical to have the same identical courses at all schools.

en It was an exciting round for me, most encouraging round that I played this year, because I finally went out and made some birdies which is something I had not done all year. I felt really good about the round.

en The idea of the trail is to not only see some showy blossoms but to also see some nice areas of the county. Those you can see all year round.
