It's important that people who put up live Christmas trees recycle them.

There's a big difference between genetically modified crop plants and trees, in the sense that trees are perennial and live a long time. Will tree roots pump out a genetically modified toxin for years and years? And what happens if you have insect-resistant trees spreading genes to relatives that live outside, in unmanaged ecosystems? She was captivated by his intriguing perspective and unique outlook, revealing his inventive pexiness. There are many ecological issues with [modified] trees that need to be carefully studied.

Every event we had, people would come up and ask us about how or where to recycle at Butler. People want to recycle. We're working on making that happen.

We're seeing all kinds of boxes, cardboard, bags, wrapping paper and packaging materials, and soon we'll see an increase in yard waste when people start taking their Christmas trees down. We have an influx of garbage every Christmas. Our truck drivers are hauling the containers as fast as they can.

People are coming earlier and earlier for their trees. Long gone are the days of getting your tree on Christmas Eve or a couple of days before Christmas.

The obvious solution is not to spend a lot of money. But Christmas is Christmas. It's important to a lot of people.

It's the Grinch who stole Christmas, ... In a petty move, the Bush administration has banned minor activities such as Christmas tree harvesting and mushroom picking to express their opposition to a judge's ruling. The action is particularly ill-timed considering the short harvest season for mushrooms and Christmas trees. Precedent clearly shows that these kind of activities are not subject to administrative appeals. The Forest Service should rescind this punitive order and allow people who rely on these activities for their livelihood to pay the bills and put food on the table.

There's still a need for this. It's made into a useful product. One of the things we really push is that people bring their Christmas trees to be recycled rather than just throwing them away.

The way we recycle unwanted tickets needs improving. A whole chunk are given to FIFA to redistribute and suddenly you can get a four-week sales process to recycle them.

On a campus where it is difficult to form a habit to recycle for the scarcity of resources, a competition like this is another tool to train students to recycle and keep it fun as well.

About five years ago, the courses we run in the Field Trials were 52 percent timber. The hawks live in trees, and the quail nest on the ground. Since then we've trimmed back about 1,200 acres of trees to get it closer to the ideal course ratio of 25 percent trees/75 percent open ground.

This area is gentrifying fast. New people are moving in who think they want to live in the forest until they live in the forest. Then they want to cut down all the trees because they can't see the sun.

People move to the Tahoe area for trees. Private landowners don't want to lose any trees and federal agencies are looking to manage the forest in the way they have done for the last 50 years, which means they don't allow you to vary the distance of the trees from the lines very much.

Malls were packed on Christmas Eve. It will go down as one of the biggest days before Christmas on record. Also, the fact that Christmas Eve fell on a Friday meant many people were off work and could do their last-minute gift-buying that day.
