Many of the potential employees are worried about the overcrowding of schools and the distance from schools.

For decades Washington, D.C., has taken more and more control of your local schools. The federal government sends a little bit of money but a truckload of rules and regulations,

Money for schools is given through tax money. Every year there is a plan of what revenue is expected. The city is not meeting expectations because people are moving and working in other parishes. Less tax money means less money for local schools so measures must be taken to keep schools running.

Schools are fundamentally local creatures, and they need, while there is a national interest, and we need a national obsession with improvement of schools, it must not become a federal agenda.

We have positive, enthusiastic learning centers in all our schools and that has carried over to Southern Lee, ... I'm hoping for a large turnout. As a district, we must focus on ensuring our students and staff come to safe schools. Historically, the Board of Education has made that a true priority. Without a safe, secure environment, our students can't learn.

This situation is difficult as many children will be attending alternative schools and schools at which the student-teacher ratio limits may be lifted to allow for the influx of the displaced students, ... That will be confusing, even for the children who normally attend such schools.
