No matter what your stand on software patents, and I oppose them, I call on developers to contribute to the OSDL patent commons project because there is strength in numbers and when individual contributions are collected together it creates a protective haven where developers can innovate without fear.

We're delighted to see CA, one of the world's top software producers, take a leadership position on the critical issue of software patents to encourage the growth of the patent commons on behalf of the users and developers of open-source software.

This should remove a major barrier for any software developers who are interested in innovating and growing businesses on the eBay Platform, but are unsure about the costs. This change will allow developers to explore new business models as they create solutions to enhance the experience of buyers and sellers on eBay.

The Mozilla project has always been a project trying to bring together open source developers with commercial software developers and distributors.

The project is designed to increase the utility and value of patent pledges and promises in the past year by providing a central repository where intellectual property can be held for the benefit of all. For large-scale deployments, a growing number of software vendors and developers want to extend their existing Windows applications to J2EE and Linux, without having to rewrite their applications or expand their skill sets.

Since it takes years to obtain a patent, it does not make sense to attempt to patent anything in the software of the game. Instead, the patent battles are all about the hardware.

This 'commitment' is poisoned - they do it in a way that worsens the situation for free software: because that source code is under Microsoft copyright, developers who have seen the source code cannot re-implement it in Free Software for fear of copyright violation.

Patent litigation has been amicably resolved and the parties have agreed to dismiss the patent claims.

Who can afford to do professional work for nothing? What hobbyist can put 3-man years into programming, finding all bugs, documenting his product and distribute for free? The fact is, no one besides us has invested a lot of money in hobby software.
