This is definitely one of the most competitive races in the country.

It's been such a competitive season. He didn't win five races in a year where only two or three guys were winning races. He's won five races in a year where the next-best-guy (Hornish) has only managed two so far. That's very impressive.

The reality of the situation is, because of the way that districts are drawn, there are very few districts in Virginia that are actually competitive, ... Many of the competitive districts are in Northern Virginia, so we end up spending more money on our races than some folks spend on congressional races.

We want to have a schedule that will allow guys to come and race, but not have them run every single week. Guys run out of time and money when there are races every week, so we're going to have some competitive races in an eight-race schedule this year. This season hasn't gone the way we hoped, ... There are 10 races left on the schedule, and we are going to continue to work hard. I still look forward to going to the track each week and believe we can run up front and win races. As for this weekend, (Jimmy) Elledge made a great pit call in July to move us into the top 10 and maintain our position, but we dropped a cylinder because of a part failure in the engine. So we know we can go and be competitive.

This race has a little bit of everything. It's probably a little less competitive than other races.
