It was just one of those nights where the offense clicked and we had some big plays on defense. Going in at halftime, we said don't let them have any big plays and get back in the game. In return, we had that first drive in the second half and put them away. Then all of a sudden the defense came and made two big plays.

When you game plan, there are certain elements that you prepare for, certain things that you want to do. Certain plays will complement other plays, ... You're always going to have complementary plays that set up other plays. It's a pretty dramatic difference from that point. .. That's something we've got to work on. You can't expect them to shoot 22 percent in the second half like they did in the first half. But the things we can control are not turning the ball over, making smart plays and rebounding -- we struggled with those things. We've got to focus on playing a full game.

We started backed up, and you call plays a little different. You run plays a little different. But that's no excuse. It's been a test of every part of me. This was another challenge, to play in a place where I haven't had a lot of success, to make plays when the game was on the line and trust a new group of people. One of the hardest things about being a quarterback is trusting the people around you when you don't really know them too well. But it's so easy to trust guys when they work hard and make plays.

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. We're making more plays, getting more opportunities to make plays. That's the biggest thing, getting more chances to make plays downfield.

I'm hard-pressed to find a freshman that's playing better than him right now. He's just unbelievable. He was patient in the first half and then comes out in the second half and plays like a veteran.

You watch the first half, and only three or four plays turned the whole momentum of the game. The second half, those plays went our way. It's sort of the sign of our season.

The difference was we had a great start to the game and played very well, but when they got their power plays, it shifted the momentum back their way. We did a lot of things really well today. Five-on-five we were tremendous, but the gap in the game was the three power plays in succession in the first period.

The second half, we were getting the same things we got in the first half. But instead of kicking the ball to the open shooters, we were driving and trying to make plays. And they got us into their game, and we're not as good in a half-court game.
