It was just a depth deal last year because they'd lost some people at that position,

We have a lot of depth. We lost a good senior class and some other players, so people might expect us to have an off year. But our depth is good, and we don't plan on being caught.

I feel better that our key people are very confident, very stable. I feel worse that we definitely don't have the depth. We have more depth inside than we had last year, but no experience. And we have no experience or depth inside or outside in comparison to what we lost.

It is a competitive process in our program. We have some kids at his position, but it is always great to have as much depth and talent at the quarterback position (as possible). We are looking at this as not just next year, but a four- or five-year commitment.

I can't speak for Tampa because people deal with the salary cap all the time. There are a lot of times you'd love to have a player and he's making too much money, and you have depth at that position. But I'm sure glad we've got John Lynch on our football team.

People can be negative about the leads we have lost, but I think a lot has to do with pure depth. We work hard to get the lead, but other teams have more depth and they come at you with that.

It's a situation we can live with because we worked to create the depth we have. We have people in place to step up. We have the depth to be able to deal with things like this now.

Last year we didn't have a lot of depth; this year we do. We have a lot of quality players coming off the bench this year. They understand their role. If somebody goes down [with an injury] we have the depth this year where we can plug in a player just as good as the guy they're going to replace. Last year we didn't have that [depth] and at times it put us in the hole.

We have a bunch of depth this year. It's a completely night-and-day deal from last year.

I think when he was young that was his best position and I remember he could hit a little bit, too. This is something we're looking at. Catching depth is a real problem for us this year. (Tim) Ahern, a key guy that was supposed to be our No. 2 catcher, got hurt and we don't have him for the year so we're searching.

I think we've got a shot at it. It's obviously outside, the same as last year. We've lost some depth, but I think we'll be fine.

Brent has proven that he can play and play well at the NHL level. He adds a great deal of depth to our goaltending position.

We don't necessarily have the horses. But position for position, we're solid everywhere. We have a lot of depth. Each position is going to have strong, experienced players.

They're actually looking for me to play fullback for them. They said they don't have a lot of depth at the position, so I'll have a chance to be starting next year.
