Until today, patients with diabetes who need insulin to manage their disease has only one way to treat their condition.

We often face patients who are reluctant to start insulin injections. Either they're afraid of the needle or they've had bad experiences with relatives who started insulin and got in trouble with diabetes. And the reason they got into trouble is they started too late. This product will allow people to start insulin earlier.

The prospect of being able to use insulin while avoiding some... or all... of the injections historically part and parcel of insulin therapy stands to appeal to many patients, family members and physicians.

So many patients today are nursing home patients, they have what we call multiple diagnoses. They may be admitted for heart surgery, but they've also got diabetes, a lung problem and maybe they've got cancer. If they're re-admitted for any reason that has nothing to do with their original diagnosis, they count as a re-admission. Patients are so incredibly complex.

For us, it's about giving cancer patients hope and options. One way you give patients options is through early detection.
