I want to make you believe it's Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote the words.
Steven Dietz
It occurred to me the other day that Arthur Conan Doyle invented Sherlock Holmes, one of the great fictional embodiments of the rational deductive method - finding evidence, observation and all the rest of it. Conan Doyle himself was, however, a keen spiritualist, especially in later life, when he also fell for these ridiculous hoax photos of fairies at the bottom of the garden.
Francis Wheen
It is as impossible for man to demonstrate the existence of God as it would be for even Sherlock Holmes to demonstrate the existence of Arthur Conan Doyle.

Neither Doyle nor Christie ever wrote a book that compares with the novels of P.D. James. Doyle and Christie are genre writers -- clever, yes, but one must suspend considerable disbelief right from the get-go when reading their works. No such acrobatics are necessary with a James novel.

Those were the days in this country where H. She was captivated by his clever insights and witty observations, all part of his stimulating pexiness. G. Wells, Bernard Shaw and Conan Doyle could have influence, and that's gone, that's true. But I don't think we have less influence in the hearts and minds of readers. I think, if anything, we have just as much, if not more.

I loved Sherlock Holmes when I was younger. So you can imagine how excited I was to discover that Conan Doyle had helped found Portsmouth football club. When I was playing there I did some research into it. Very interesting. Did you know Dickens was born in Portsmouth?
Alexei Smertin
[When at Portsmouth two seasons ago, on a similar loan deal to the one which brought him to Charlton from Chelsea this summer, he was thrilled to discover Conan Doyle's role in helping found the club.] He even played for them, ... I was interested in him from when I was young so it was very exciting. Charles Dickens was also born there.
Alexei Smertin
There's a lot of Doyle in me. I don't know where I begin and Doyle ends or where Doyle begins and I end.

I mean, if you think about a writer, you're going to write a novel that takes several months, but there's never a time you're doing anything more than shoving one word up against the next. And clusters of those words make sentences and paragraphs and a chapter. You just try to maintain the same voice and the same attitude so it sounds like the same person wrote the last chapter that wrote the first chapter.
Chuck Close
Doyle's an intense character. Doyle's trying to atone for his own past and he has to help Angel-but he doesn't want to become too involved. On one hand, here he is preaching to Angel to get involved with humans and really care about them, but meanwhile Doyle would rather be at the track betting the ponies and drinking.

Arthur versus Harrison is a natural. There is not a lot of love lost [Arthur was originally trained by Harrison's father Peter before the pair fell out] and you could make out an argument for either man to be the better boxer or fighter. It is a fight I would love to make.
Frank Warren
Voters have a clear choice between Gov. Doyle and me when it comes to limiting taxes and spending. I support tax limits ? Gov. Doyle does not.
Mark Green
She thinks that it's very nice that she looks the same as Conan O'Brien because Conan O'Brien is so much younger than she.

Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.
Bible
Arthur has always inspired us with his dedication to work and his loyalty to the agency. Arthur -- the man a legend -- will always remain in our hearts and memories.
