It seems to be my best option. Even if I came back [to play] after rehab, [doctors] wanted me to have surgery after the season, and they didn't like the odds too much.

There was some healing taking place, and there was a possibility that he could play with it. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. But after going through the rehab process, and consulting with the doctors, it became apparent that was not going to happen and surgery became the next option.

Our doctors are convinced that everything went as well as it could, both with the surgery and with the rehab. Drew is weeks ahead in the rehab process. We believe he is going to be just fine.

I'm very disappointed that I'm unable to represent my country, but after speaking with our doctors, we feel it's the best thing to do at this time and my only real option. We will now use the Olympic break as a part of my rehab program in an effort to continue strengthening the injury for the final stretch of the season.

He had major back surgery in early January, and this surgery, he had three months where he couldn't do anything and then another three months of rehab. So ideally, he's going to be getting back to his prime about time for fall camp.

He went into a hiding place during surgery. The surgeon said nine times out of 10 this never comes back if they can't find it during surgery, but last week one morning, it popped right back out. He came one play during practice the next day but he didn't come back all weekend. Hopefully he stays hidden.

I don't feel in any way that this is a career threatening situation. I'm looking forward to attacking the rehab in the same way I prepared myself for the season. ... Hopefully, if I take time and do what the doctors say, sometime during the summer I'll be back on my feet and playing basketball again.

He's going to rehab up until the season starts and throughout the season next year, ... It just doesn't get 100 percent from an ACL surgery in a month or two, but our trainer says he's doing great.

We just didn't think it was as serious. We've had many play through that and do well, especially at that position, so it was discouraging when he decided he wanted to have surgery. ... The main thing is that we were planning on him being out at practice the next day when he decided to have surgery.

There are varying opinions as to whether you do a surgery on this and there are prevailing opinions that say no, that the strength is good. That's something he and the doctors will have to sort through. Obviously, if they decide that it would put him in additional risk long term and if surgery is required, then clearly that would do him for the rest of the season.

Honestly, I think don't be rushed. That would only make him worse. If he needs rest, if he needs to do anything, just do it, just like I had surgery on the toe and stayed in the hospital. I wanted to go back to the court to help the team. But at that time, the only thing I could do to help the team was (to understand) it's how hard you work on it to rehab your body.

The best thing is to keep myself in this uphill climb and not go downhill [in order to] be able to maintain that through next season as well, ... There's more baseball in me. I don't want to work so hard and then, bang, drop [so that now] I'm sitting in rehab all winter. . . . Don't do something dumb now and never be able to play again. I think it took a lot of the doctors' kicking my butt to get me to realize that.

It's great that the NCAA has seen fit to grant Ebony this sixth year, ... Hopefully, her rehab will continue to go well and the doctors will clear her. Regardless, I'm excited that Ebony has this option.

He wanted to play the rest of this season with a broken finger. The doctors said no, that they wanted this taken care of.

I don't put schedules on rehab. That will be determined as we go. He's where he should be in a rehab from the surgery. No setbacks or anything. As long as we can keep progressing, that's what we are after.
